Shut-Slanted-Silent

She tells me she dwells in possibility.

I keep my mouth shut, slanted, silent

as she continues her monologue,

speaking to an uninterested audience.

I keep my mouth shut, slanted, silent

proving my point of tolerance

despite the nausea climbing my throat.

I keep my mouth shut, slanted, silent

as my thoughts begin to float.

Nobody needs to know.

I keep my mouth shut, slanted, silent

as the world begins to glow.

She looks like a photograph,

arms moving so slow.

I move, look back, relax

a smile no one needs to know.
